Citizens of the European Union (EU) have the right to reside and work in our country,but they are required to register in the Central Registry of Foreigners if they are going to stay more than three months in Spain, a necessary procedure to obtain the NIE (Foreigners’ Identification Number), so important for day-to-day procedures.
If you are related to a Spanish citizen or a citizen of another European Union country, you have the possibility of applying for the EU citizens’ family card, which gives you the right to live and work in Spain for five years, after which it can be renewed.
